Humans I The Prey

Basic information

Species: Humans
Latin name: Homo Sapiens, Linnaeus, 1758
Timeline: Middle pleistocene - recent

Humans are descended from the Hominina tribe, belonging to the family of Great Apes. They are characterized by their upward posture and bipedial motion, as well as their increased tool use.

The spread of humans and their large increasing population has been due to their advantages of having a larger brain with a well-developed neocortex, prefrontal cortex and temperol lobes, which enable high levels of abstract reasoning, language, problem solving, sociality and culture through social learning.

Humans inhabit approximately 80% of the world, having had a profound impact on their environment and native species worldwide. Humans use tools to a much higher degree than any other animal and are the first known species to build fires and cook their food, as well as clothe themselves and create and use other technologies and arts.

In relation to the Vampyres

It has been said that the Vampyres evolved and / or mutated from the Humans, though others speak of a curse laid upon us by the devil himself, starting with the One. There has been no solid evidence of this however, so it all comes down to mere speculation. Despite them being a prey without much resistance it has been advised, due to their widespread and large amount, to keep ourselves hidden and let those that died from a bite disappear. This decree comed from the High council itself, in order to avoid what is commonly known as a 'witchhunt'.

Compared to the Vampyres, Humans have a short lifespan of up to a hundred years. They have a fragile physique and are prone to dying from illness or accident. Despite being our prey, they are what stand the closest to us. Which is why some of the Vampyres have fallen in love with a human. Such a relationship will be tolerated, but the binding of blood is strictly forbidden. By no means is it allowed to reprocreate with a human and thus creating a half-breed, also known as a Dhampyr.

Other than hunting our prey, the Vampyres have come to keep humans in a way humans keep pets. To put a more kinder word to it, humans that are near Vampyres are also called Familiars or Trusted. They are aware of the Vampyres existence and thus fall under the same rule as Vampyres, to never reveal what happens in the dark of the common world of the humans. Familiars are usually linked to one Vampyre and their house, providing them willingly with their blood.

Humans as a source of food

Humans have become the Vampyres main source of food, providing us with nutrients through their blood. In particular, their plasma is what feeds us and keeps us alive. Vampyres are genetically infused with an instinctual urge to drink human blood. To us, healthy human blood tastes like an unimaginable sweet nectar beyond descriptions in terms the average human could understand. Naturally, each of the bloodtypes taste differently to the Vampyric palate.

There are a total of four bloodtypes: A, B, AB and O. The rarest of these, AB-, is the most alluring to us Vampyres. It has been described as having a full body and rich flavor, like a well-preserved bottle of wine. However, this bloodtype will weaken us in time, making the Vampyre who drinks it ill. The council has ordered not to drink AB- and it is now considered a drug. You will find some Vampyres to be addicted to the AB bloodtype, making them perceive as weak and drunk.

The best tasting blood that comes after AB is considered to be B-, who gives a powerful boost and is the most wanted in the Vampyre realm.

The bloodtypes, in order of best to worse:
B-
A-
O-
AB+
B+
A+

O+ is considered the least desirable and is usually ignored as a foodsource entirely.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The following strengths are considered common among the humans:
- Adaptable to the modern world (most)

If you wish to know more about abilities and powers of the humans, please check the section Abilities and Powers to learn more. As abilities can vary, and not all are applicable on humans, they will be described in more detail there.

The weaknesses are considered common, but not applicable on all humans:
- Weak physique(most)
- Weak mind (most)
- Human emotions (most)

Do note that some weaknesses can become a strength and some strengths can become a weakness in certain circumstances.

Vampyres I The Common

Basic information

Species: Vampyres
Latin name: Homo Nosferatu Vampiris, Commune
Timeline: Middle pleistocene - recent

It is not always easy to describe the common attributes of a Vampyre. There are, similar to the humans, a wide variety of descriptions that can be made. Some have the translucent skin, which turns dark red upon feeding. Others are similar to humans, but with an eerie glow so beautiful and perfect it can seduce any. Still, there are categories that can be made.

The common Vampyre is considered the weakest of our kind. They have both a weaker physique and a weaker mind, compared to the other Vampyres. As they are usually the younger ones, it has been implied their weaker strength comes due to the lingering human side, as their body is not yet touched with time. Some never change however, and remain weaker compared to others, despite their age. Despite this, compared to humans, their hunting skill falls in comparison to those of the living. Their speed and natural instincts are increased and they can easily hunt their prey without being noticed. Their most useful strength lies in their connections with the human world, as they are able to easily adapt and hide within. Which is why they are usually under service of older Vampyres, working for them in the city, to keep in touch with the modern world.

In relation to humans

As perhaps we all know, our origin started with the humans. Born from the body of one, our kind has a strong connection with the breathers. We need their blood in order to survive, as it brings us never-ending life. Which is why humans are an important aspect of our lives and are to be treated as they would cattle. Herd them and feed on them, but with respect. It is strongly advised to take on a familiar, as our history has proven that carelessness on our part can lead to disaster to our kind. You will be able to find more on this in our history chronicles.

Relations between a Vampyre and a human are not forbidden, but it is ill-advised to start anything romantic. Despite the Vampyres lack of soul, it has not been uncommon for some to fall in love. The result has been nothing but tragedy. A human woman can fall pregnant with the seed of a Vampyre, but the child itself will be nothing but a monster. A common Vampyre breeding with a human woman will result in the mother and child dying as a result. Some have described the child as a slippery, jelly-like body, that lived only a short life, as there were no signs of bones. Despite this, it rips itself violently from the womb of the human woman, bleeding her dry.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The following strengths are considered common among the Vampyres:
- Increased strength (all)
- Increased speed (all)
- Increased natural instincts (all)

If you wish to know more about abilities and powers of a Vampyre, please check the section Abilities and Powers to learn more. As abilities can vary, and not all are applicable on Vampyres, they will be described in more detail there.

The following weaknesses are considered common:
- Weak physique, compared to other Vampyres (all)

- Weak mind, compared to other Vampyres (all)
- Weakness to sunlight (all)
- Weakness to Holy Water (all)
- Weakness to being stabbed in the heart by an Holy object (all)
- Thirst of blood (all)
- Inability to hide fangs (some)
- Human emotions (most)

Do note that some weaknesses can become a strength and some strengths can become a weakness in certain circumstances.

Vampyres II The Pure

Basic information

Species: Vampyres
Latin name: Homo Nosferatu Vampiris, Purus
Timeline: Middle pleistocene - recent

The next category of Vampyres are the Pure ones. They are stronger in physique and mind, yet still possess some human traits. Their skin is usually considered to be more vibrant than those of others and they can have a strange attraction towards the humans. Many of them are usually Elders, between the ages of 500 to a 1000 years. However, one bitten by an Ancient can posses these abilities from the day they are turned, making them formidable foes. As time passes, a Vampyres abilties and gifts will form and grow, making the Pure ones faster, stronger and more intelligent compared to the common ones.

The result has been nothing but tragedy. A human woman can fall pregnant with the seed of a Vampyre, but the child itself will be nothing but a monster. It rips itself from the womb of the human woman, bleeding her dry. A Pure or Ancient Vampyre breeding with a human woman will result in a Dhampyr. A Dhampyr is a child with similar powers to a Vampyre, but without the usual weaknesses of one. As such, these children can walk in the sunlight and have no thirst for blood, as they are able to eat the food of the living. A child such as this will be condemned by the Vampyre council, and usually killed at birth.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The following strengths are considered common among the Pure:
- Strong physique (all
)
- Strong mind (all)
- Increased speed (all)
- Increased natural instincts (all)
- Aura of Charm (most)
- Aura of Innocence (some)

If you wish to know more about abilities and powers of a Vampyre, please check the section Abilities and Powers to learn more. As abilities can vary, and not all are applicable on Vampyres, they will be described in more detail there.

The following weaknesses are considered common:
- Weakness to sunlight (all)
- Weakness to Holy Water (all)
- Weakness to being stabbed in the heart by an Holy object (all)
- Thirst of blood (all)
- Inability to hide fangs (some)

Vampyres III The Wanderers

Basic information

Species: Vampyres
Latin name: Homo Nosferatu Vampiris, Viator
Timeline: Middle pleistocene - recent

The Wanderers are considered an illusive kind of Vampyre. Due to their travels they tend to have an extensive amount of experience and knowledge. They are considered some of the most intelligent of our kind and their guidance has been called upon throughout the ages. Some tend to be deceptive, using their intelligence to plot in their favor and take what doesn't belong to them. Their physical strength varies, but they have a strong mind and tend to be stubborn and willful. To another Vampyre it will seem as if they are restless and indecisive, but a Wanderer will think carefully on each decision they make, yet perform it without notice when the decision has been made.
The Wanderers tend to be similar to the older Ancients, lacking heart and empathy. They hide their lack of empathy behind a wall of deception, using their increased intelligence to use all around them to their own advantage, disregarding most as nothing more than pets and slaves.

Due to their lack of heart and empathy, the Wanderers tend to be more careless and treat the humans with disrespect. They use them to their own advantage and can disregard them without notice.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The following strengths are considered common among wanderers:
- Strong mind (all)
- High intelligence (most)
- Increased natural instincts (all)
- Aura of Charm (most)
- Aura of Innocence (some)

If you wish to know more about abilities and powers of a Vampyre, please check the section Abilities and Powers to learn more. As abilities can vary, and not all are applicable on Vampyres, they will be described in more detail there.

The following weaknesses are considered common:
- Weakness to sunlight (all)
- Weakness to Holy Water (all)

Vampyres IV The Magicals

Basic information

Species: Vampyres
Latin name: Homo Nosferatu Vampiris, Magia
Timeline: Middle pleistocene - recent

The Magicals are considered irreplaceable to the future of the Vampyres. They each have their own magical ability, which are also called fragments. They also hold an increased knowledge in potion making and creating magical artifacts. Each Magical can only possess two or three fragments, as more would overload their body. Magical artifacts and potions are known to grand protection against the sun or holy objects, but they come at a price. The more a Magical uses his abilities, the more he tends to slip into a world of insanity. They become erratic, unpredictable and sometimes even dangerous, which has lead to the Council convicting several of the Magicals to isolation and lock down.

The Magicals tend to have an insanity streak, and some have reported using humans as their personal experiments. Still, they can have heart towards humans and co-exist with them peacefully.

It rips itself from the womb of the human woman, bleeding her dry. There have been Dhampyr produced from the seed of a magical, however there is not much information to be found about the child, as the child was killed at birth.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The following strengths are considered common among wanderers:
- Magical ability (all)
- Potion making (most)
- Creating Magical Artifacts (most)
- Increased natural instincts (all)

If you wish to know more about abilities and powers of a Vampyre, please check the section Abilities and Powers to learn more. As abilities can vary, and not all are applicable on Vampyres, they will be described in more detail there.

- Weakness to being stabbed in the heart by an Holy object (all)
